— Hotel: Lots of lime green and modern touches in this well equipped hotel in the 'Latin Quarter'. Charming 'chambres' with various names like: "Perles, Passion, Desir, Opium" all in French of course. While others are named after exotic flowers. Standard rooms start at 180 euros up to 240 for superior. The service is attentive and there are several small bistros in the surrounding streets. The nearest metro is less than a five minute walk. A small hotel of only 17 rooms.
Rooms: The dark colours work well with the bright prints, lots of silk fabrics in the curtains and cushions.
Area: Close by to theatres and cabarets and nightclubs. A short metro or leisurely walk to shopping districts.

Boutique 9 Hotel in the 9th of course
— A new hotel, high on simple and elegant design, lots of clean lines, white walls but splashes of bright colour here and there. What I like about this hotel is there's no carpet and just a few simple but practical pieces and a comfortable bed. Yes, Free internet access bravo, I really don't like paying for this service.
Includes: Satellite LCD TV, air-con, towel dryer, safe, free newspaper, laundry service, breakfast room. Area: Opera quarter, closed by to the 'Grand Magasins' on Blvd Haussmann and a few metro stop to Champs-Elysees.

Le Clos Medicis - for young couples
— Hotel: Small and genuinely 'boutique' with its contemporary 'décor'. It was once a residence in 1773 and now tastefully renovated with antiques. Afternoon drinks in the courtyard
Rooms: Rooms are small (120sq ft) but charming and comfortable and its the service that the hotel is renown for. Its perfect for a romantic Paris stay as its walking distance to St. Germain-des-Pres and other wonderful walks in Paris. Air-conditioning (a must in summer, mini bar and some rooms overlook the small garden/courtyard which you are free to use for an afternoon read. Doubled glazed windows, a must for most Paris hotels and contemporary but small bathrooms. Also, Wifi and guest computer if you don't have your own laptop.
Why here: comfortable, charming; around the corner from Luxembourg Garden and lot of little touches often missing from Paris Hotels these days.

Stay in the heart of St-Germain K+K Cayré - 4 stars
— Hotel: Modern, Chic and central. There's an 'art deco' presence in the interiors but its all for comfort and simplicity. Great bar area and large reception lounge. There is a business centre and elegant buffet breakfast room. Situated next to rue du Bac which is a wonderful street to stroll and shop. You can walk to most attractions, all less than 10 minutes, museums, park and around 35 minutes to the Isle de Saint Louis.
Rooms: Simple and clean lines, quality fabrics and muted tones of beige, apple green and simple teak furniture. Rooms are a little more spacious than most hotel in the Rive Gauche. Marble bathrooms, also a good size.

— Hotel: Colours dominate, bright pinks, lime, violet, happy, lots of cheer in each of the smallish rooms with large beds. The Breakfast Room is bright and airy, not longer are your summons to the 'cave'. Foyer and hallways you will find an ever-changing collection of art on the walls.
Rooms: Bright, bold strips on a feature wall, clean crisp cotton sheets. Quality fittings.
Why Book: Close to Gare Lyon, its a 4 star. Downside: This is not a great area to walk around at night, not much ambiance but some would disagree as the Bastille area is changing so fast.

— Opposite the 'Grande Chaumiere' which is frequented by many a great artist, Gauguin, Giacometi and Bourdelle. The idea of this hotel is to blend art with comfort. If you like something out-of-the-ordinary the hotel has become popular with 'creative types'.
Rooms: Luxury, modern comforts, dark colours blend beautifully with white cotton sheets. Modern Bathrooms with chrome finishes. Daily linen change-over Art pieces from every corner. They are small except for the Superior. Breakfast but no restaurant. Doubles from 220 euros.
Area: Lively, walking distance to all attractions, galleries and legendary restaurants such as La Coupole.

— If you would like to spend one night one the roof top of the Palais de Tokyo you can. The promotion has been extended until Spring 2009. While its only accepts one night booking expect a lounge room, bedroom, gold-edge towels that you CAN take home and a free mini-bar.
